I love how pissed off people get when you pass them on the right, as if they’re policing the left lane. I always give people the good ol sarcastic crying face...

Oh man thats good, I’m going to use that.
I swear 75% of the people I pass on the right are on their phone and don’t even notice. The other 25% get overly upset. Especially for living in a state with “keep right except to pass” as a law.

I admit I’ve been tempted to put an amber light bar in my back window and flip on the “move right” flash after passing them.

It’s pretty fantastic. There’s 2 ways it can go.
1. They get EVEN ANGRIER
2. They laugh their ass off and the situation completely de-escalates.
Option 2 happened to me one day in a hysterical way.
Wife was driving lifted Commander in left lane in a 55 mph zone. Guy driving standard 4 door sedan (can’t remember what kind) was doing 40-45. Logically, she’s on his ass (I hate when she does this lol, 1 brake check and I’ve got a big bill on my hands). anyhow, after a honk or two and headlights in his back window he’s flipped us off at least twice and then he finally moves over. I, being the passenger, rock the crazy smile and wave only to see.....HIM DOING THE SAME THING. Both of us laughed our asses off and went about our day with a funny experience instead of it getting worse.

Ha thats a good story. I honestly just go right for the pass now though, I’ve found flashing lights do nothing and riding ass is never a good idea. There’s nothing illegal about passing on the right so I just save myself the time.

Well in the above situation there were plenty of spots for him to jump over and continue at the slower pace of the right lane, but no where near enough room to go around him and come back. Or I would have been saying - JUST GO AROUND HIM but it wasn’t an option.

Nothing illegal about passing on the right? Are you sure?
Living in the PNW, I have to pass on the right all the time because of left lane campers. I always assumed it was illegal.

Googled it for Michigan and came back with this:
The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass upon the right of another vehicle only if 1 or more of the following conditions exist:
....
(b) Upon a street or highway with unobstructed pavement not occupied by parked vehicles of sufficient width for 2 or more lines of moving vehicles in each direction and when the vehicles are moving in substantially continuous lanes of traffic.

Ahh I see, yea those situations suck. Luckily my commute is like 90% 4 lanes in each direction, so theres enough room.

Yeah it sucks on 2 lane highways, or in this case (since you know the area) was on Michigan Ave over in the Canton area.
